Sportfishing FAQ – What You Need to Know

  1. Do I Need a Fishing License in Los Cabos?
Yes. Every angler on board (including kids) needs a valid Mexican fishing license. Daliken Sportfishing can help arrange this before your trip.

  2. What’s the Best Season to Go Fishing in San José del Cabo?
While you can fish year-round, the best months are from May to November for marlin, tuna, mahi-mahi, and roosterfish. Winter is better for sierra, grouper, and bottom fishing.

  3. What Time Should I Arrive for My Trip?
We recommend arriving 15–20 minutes before your scheduled departure time. Our team meets you directly at the marina for check-in and gear prep.

  4. What Should I Bring Aboard the Boat?
Bring sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, a light long-sleeve shirt, snacks, drinks, and your camera. We provide tackle, bait, and safety equipment.

  5. Do I Need to Bring My Own Fishing Gear?
No. All rods, reels, bait, and tackle are included. You're welcome to bring your own gear if you prefer specific setups.

  6. What’s the Difference Between a Panga and a Yacht?
Pangas are smaller open boats, ideal for inshore and light offshore fishing. Yachts offer more comfort, space, shade, and are better for longer or deep-sea trips.

  7. Is the Fishing Better in the Morning or Afternoon?
Mornings typically have calmer seas and more active bites, especially for tuna and roosterfish. Afternoon trips can also be productive, especially in summer.

  8. What Happens If the Weather Is Bad?
Safety is our priority. If conditions are unsafe, we’ll reschedule your trip or offer a full refund. We monitor weather daily and keep you informed.

  9. Can We Keep the Fish We Catch?
Yes, most species can be kept within legal limits. We’ll help you clean and pack your catch. Some customers also choose to donate fish to local families.

  10. Can Kids or First-Timers Join the Trip?
Absolutely! Our trips are family-friendly and perfect for beginners. We guide you step by step and adjust the experience based on your comfort and goals.
