Snorkeling by Private Yacht in Cabo
Skip the crowded party boats. Anchor your own private yacht over Santa María Bay or Chileno Bay, jump in clear water, and snorkel reefs full of tropical fish — at your own pace, with your own group, no strangers, no schedule.
Quick answer: A private snorkeling yacht charter in Cabo typically runs 4 to 6 hours, anchors at one or two of the best reefs (Santa María Bay, Chileno Bay, or Cabo Pulmo for longer days), and includes captain, bilingual crew, snorkeling gear, life vests, A/C cabin, and onboard bathroom. The Riviera 43ft, Cabo 48ft and Luxury 50ft all work — base pricing on our boat rental fleet page.
The Three Best Snorkeling Spots Near Cabo
Santa María Bay
Protected marine sanctuary. Crescent-shaped, very calm, easy entry. Schools of sergeant majors, parrotfish, angelfish, and king angelfish. The best beginner-friendly snorkel reef in Los Cabos.
Best for: families, beginners, first-time snorkelers.
Chileno Bay
Another marine sanctuary. Clearer water than Santa María on most days. Larger reef structure, more variety: damselfish, butterflyfish, and occasional sea turtles. Slightly deeper.
Best for: intermediate snorkelers, photographers, longer stops.
Cabo Pulmo (longer trip)
The crown jewel — a UNESCO marine park with the largest hard coral reef in the Sea of Cortez. Bull sharks, schools of bigeye trevally, rays, sea lions. Requires a full-day charter (8+ hours).
Best for: serious snorkelers, full-day trips.
Private Snorkeling Yacht vs Group Tour Boat
Group snorkel tours load 40 to 80 strangers on one boat, anchor at the busiest spot, and give you 30 minutes in the water. Private yacht is the opposite.
Your Own Schedule
Stay longer at the reef you love. Move on when you're ready, not when the tour says so.
Less Crowded Reefs
We avoid the times and spots where group boats dump everyone in the water. Cleaner reef visibility.
Comfortable Onboard
A/C cabin between stops, onboard bathroom, your own music, your own snacks and drinks.
Family Pace
Kids tired? Anchor and rest. Want to swim more? Stay longer. The yacht adjusts to you.
Bilingual Crew
Crew helps with gear, watches the group, and guides reef pointing without rushing anyone.
Photo Opportunities
Underwater photos, drone footage, family group shots — no strangers in the background.

Is snorkeling gear included?+
Yes. Masks, fins (adult and kid sizes), life vests in all sizes, and pool noodles or floats for non-swimmers. All sanitized between charters.
Can kids snorkel?+
Absolutely. Santa María Bay is the best beginner reef in Los Cabos — shallow, calm, full of fish. Life vests in all sizes, and our crew helps kids feel safe in the water.
How much does a private snorkeling charter cost?+
Base yacht charters start around $1,700 USD for 4 hours (Riviera 43ft) and scale for Cabo 48ft and Luxury 50ft. Most families spend $2,000 to $3,500 USD for a complete snorkeling day. See full pricing.
What's the difference between Santa María and Chileno Bay?+
Both are protected marine sanctuaries. Santa María is calmer and easier for beginners. Chileno has clearer water and more variety for intermediate snorkelers. Most charters visit one or both.
Is Cabo Pulmo worth the extra time?+
If you have a full day (8 hours) and want a world-class reef with shark and ray sightings, yes. It's roughly 1.5 hours each way by yacht. Best for serious snorkelers.
Do we need to know how to swim?+
Strong swimming is not required for Santa María Bay — it's shallow and calm. Life vests and pool noodles let non-swimmers enjoy the reef. The crew watches everyone.
Can we bring our own underwater camera or GoPro?+
Of course. The crew will hold gear while you're geared up, help with quick fixes, and the captain can position the yacht for the best light.
