Fish Report FAQ – Iman Bank
Frequently asked questions based on current conditions (bottom fishing, tunas, and low marlin activity).
Where is Iman Bank and what species are biting now?
Iman Bank is northeast of San José del Cabo. This week the focus is on amberjacks, 40lb yellowfin tuna, cabrilla, with dorado and sailfish showing.
Black/blue marlin activity is low, so we prioritize bottom fishing and tuna.
What techniques are working best?
Bottom fishing with live bait for amberjack/cabrilla, chunking for tuna, and light trolling for dorado when surface activity is spotted.
What time do we depart and from where?
Check-in is at 6:10 am at the San José del Cabo marina. Upon arrival, ask for Daliken Sportfishing – Felipe.
We’ll share the Google Maps location once you book.
Do I need a fishing license and how does bait work?
Yes, everyone on board needs a license (we arrange it for you). Live bait is paid separately and the amount depends on the technique and target species.
Can I keep my catch? Is filleting included?
Yes. Your fish will be filleted at no extra cost (just tip the fillet guy). If you want to take it to the U.S., we offer vacuum-packing & freezing for $2 USD/lb with delivery to your hotel.
Do you provide transportation from my hotel?
Yes, we offer private transport (1–4 pax). Share your hotel for a quote. You can also use Uber — type “Daliken Sportfishing” in the app to arrive directly at the dock.
Do you practice responsible fishing with sharks?
Yes. All shark encounters are catch-and-release following best practices. The tiger shark from this trip was safely released.
