Raw power

Cabo Yellowfin Tuna Fishing

Yellowfin tuna are the powerhouses of Cabo. No jumping, no show, just a deep, dogged, arm-burning fight that drives straight down and tests you and your tackle to the very end. They often travel with spinner porpoise, so when the captain finds the pods, the action turns fast and heavy in a hurry.

Every trip is private, the captain reads the water and the porpoise that day, and you book directly with the owner with no commission stacked on your price. Bring your arms.

Pay for quality and let's go pull on some tuna.

The Gordo Banks and the Cow Season

Few spots on earth produce cow tuna like the Gordo Banks just off Puerto Los Cabos. When the big yellowfin settle on the banks or run with the porpoise schools, it is some of the most demanding fishing in the world, and every fall the cow season draws anglers and tournaments like the Tuna Jackpot to Cabo.

Our captains know these grounds and the bite windows, and they rig the right tackle for the size of fish that is showing that week. Whether you want a fast bite of school-size yellowfin or a shot at a real cow, we set the day up around it.

When and where

Best Time for Tuna in Cabo

Yellowfin show through much of the year, but the bite is strongest from summer through fall, and the biggest cow tuna usually run in late summer and fall. They hold offshore on the banks and with the porpoise schools, from the Gordo Banks off San José del Cabo to the grounds off Cabo San Lucas. Our captains chase the pods and the temperature breaks that are holding fish that week.
