Short answer

Panga or yacht? Here is the quick call

If you are planning a fishing trip in San Jose del Cabo or anywhere in Los Cabos, the choice comes down to budget, comfort, and how far offshore you want to fish. Book a panga for affordable inshore and light offshore fishing close to the action, ideal for roosterfish, solo anglers, couples, and small families. Book a yacht when you want to chase big game like marlin, tuna, and wahoo 20 or more miles offshore with an air conditioned cabin, restroom, and room for the group.

The two options

What is a panga, and what is a fishing yacht?

Both get you on the fish. They just do it in very different ways.

Option 1

The panga

A panga is a lightweight, open style fiberglass boat built for inshore and light offshore fishing. It is affordable, fast, and gets you close to the action along the shoreline.

Pros

  • Much more affordable than a yacht
  • Closer to the water, great for roosterfish
  • Quick, easy access to the shoreline
  • Ideal for solo anglers, couples, and small families
  • 26ft pangas available with shade and a restroom

Cons

  • Less space and comfort
  • No enclosed cabin or luxury features
  • Not ideal for long offshore trips
Option 2

The fishing yacht

A fishing yacht is a larger vessel, often 32 to 40 plus feet, with more comfort, better equipment, and the range to go farther offshore in search of big game.

Pros

  • Air conditioned cabin, restroom, and seating
  • Reaches marlin, tuna, and wahoo 20 plus miles out
  • More space for groups or a luxury experience
  • Smoother ride in rougher water

Cons

  • Higher price per trip
  • Slower to maneuver in tight inshore spots
  • Less of the raw, hands on fishing feel

Good to know

Panga vs yacht: frequently asked questions

Is a panga or a yacht better for fishing in Los Cabos?
Neither is better overall, they fit different trips. A panga is the affordable choice for inshore and light offshore fishing close to shore, great for roosterfish and smaller groups. A yacht is better when you want to fish big game like marlin and tuna far offshore with an air conditioned cabin and more comfort.
Which is cheaper, a panga or a yacht?
A panga is much more affordable than a yacht. If budget is your main concern and you want to fish closer to shore, a panga gives you the best value. Send us your date and group on WhatsApp for an exact quote.
Can I catch marlin and tuna from a panga?
Pangas are built for inshore and light offshore fishing, so they are not ideal for long runs to the offshore grounds where marlin and tuna hold. For consistent big game fishing, a 32ft or larger yacht is the better tool because of its range and equipment.
Is a panga safe for families with kids?
Yes. The 26ft panga is a comfortable inshore option for families, with shade and a restroom on board. For longer offshore days or a bit more comfort, families often prefer the 32ft yacht.
Does the panga have a bathroom?
The 26ft panga comes with a restroom and shade. Smaller pangas are open boats without a restroom, which is part of why they are the most affordable option.
Which boat is best for a private luxury day?
For a premium private experience, the luxury yachts Tiara and Riviera 45ft combine fishing and cruising with full comfort. Availability and pricing depend on the date and group, so we quote each trip directly.
How do I get a price for each boat?
Pricing depends on the boat, the date, the season, and the size of your group, so we quote every trip directly to keep it accurate. Message us on WhatsApp with your dates and group size and we send the right boat and an exact price.
Where do the boats depart from?
Charters depart from Puerto Los Cabos Marina in San Jose del Cabo. We confirm the exact meeting point and time when you book.

The best fishing charter in San Jose del Cabo

I have been fishing with Daliken for years and they are the best. Poncho always puts us on the fish and this year was incredible. My son and I went out and caught 7 tuna, 2 dorado and a parrotfish. If you are looking for a fishing charter that uses local captains who know the fishing grounds at fair prices, then I highly recommend Daliken.

Perfect fishing experience

Our first trip and it exceeded our expectations. Great fishing boat captain. Only 30 minutes out and we limited out on dorado, so I pulled out my 10 lb fly rod and did some sight casting catch and release. That truly was a dream come true. So we decided to go for marlin. My wife and I hooked a marlin at the same time. It was incredible. Thank you for the experience.

We will talk about this forever

Honestly, I don't even know where to start. We went out today on the 28 ft boat with Captain Pancho, and from the moment we left the marina you could tell he truly knows the ocean. We headed out hoping for a good day but ended up fighting a 300 lb tuna, something I will remember for the rest of my life. This was not luck. Pancho knew exactly where to move and how to work the fish.
