Fish Report – San José del Cabo
Sailfish, Marlin, Tuna & Mahi Mahi Biting in Gordo Banks, Palmilla & Santa María
This week in San José del Cabo, fishing conditions have been outstanding for big game anglers. The Pacific is warming up, and key pelagic species are active and feeding aggressively in all the major hotspots.
🌊 Gordo Banks – Offshore Action at Its Finest
One of the most productive areas right now, Gordo Banks continues to deliver solid catches of yellowfin tuna in the 30–80 lb range. Early morning live bait or trolling small lures around the high spots is proving effective. We’re also seeing blue marlin and striped marlin hitting ballyhoo and skipjack. Expect deeper strikes and intense fights.
🐬 Palmilla Point – Mixed Bag, High Action
Just minutes from the marina, Palmilla is the perfect inshore-offshore crossover. We’re seeing consistent action with mahi mahi (dorado), especially after 9:00 AM. Sailfish sightings are increasing, with several hookups near surface bait balls. Light tackle trolling with feathers and cedar plugs is paying off.
⛰️ Santa María Canyon – Sailfish and Blues
Near the Santa María drop-off, the water clarity has been excellent. Sailfish are cruising aggressively on the surface, particularly mid-morning. A few blue marlin have been spotted tailing, and several hookups were reported this week. This is a prime zone for anglers seeking fast-paced offshore battles within close distance of land.
