Wahoos & Tunas at Iman Bank – Solid Action
Updated: November 3, 2025 • San José del Cabo
Quick Summary
Iman Bank continues producing solid results with school-size to medium yellowfin tunas and wahoo action along the edges. Dorado remains scarce, and marlin activity sits around a 50% chance depending on bait presence.
Weather & Sea Conditions
Typical early November pattern: calm morning seas with increasing breeze toward midday. Water remains warm and clean on the Sea of Cortez side. We recommend early departure to take advantage of the first bite window.
- Suggested departure: 6:10 AM from Puerto Los Cabos.
- Plan A: Iman Bank with flexibility to move toward Gordo or La Fortuna if wind shifts.
- Licenses & bait: Our crew handles everything before departure.
Note: Routes and techniques may adjust based on the morning harbor report.
Captain Recommendations
Tuna (15–60 lb)
- Live sardines with light chumming; fluorocarbon leaders 40–60 lb.
- Vertical jigging using 100–180 g metal jigs (blue/silver). Drop to bottom and work through mid-depths.
- Slow trolling with ballyhoo or diving plugs when bait is scattered.
Wahoo (20–30 lb)
- High-speed trolling along drop-offs with medium/deep diving plugs.
- Wire leader 60–90 lb to prevent bite-offs.
- Wahoo bombs and fast casts in clean current lines.
Marlin & Dorado
- Marlin: ~50% chance when bait balls hold; watch birds and surface movement.
- Dorado: slow but possible around debris or weed lines.
