Quick Bite Summary

If you want a real chance at a big fish right now, this is the week to target Gordo Banks yellowfin tuna. We’re seeing “tank” tuna in the 150–200 lb class, plus solid variety when we mix in the inshore and East Side zones.

  • Best for: Serious offshore anglers + families who want action close to shore
  • Best window: Early morning bite + staying flexible with the conditions
  • Recommended focus: Tuna at Gordo Banks, then mahi/stripers if needed

Today’s Notes (Weather & Sea)

Conditions can change quickly in Los Cabos. Our captains adjust the game plan based on wind, swell, and where the bait is holding. If the sea picks up, we may slow-troll or set a controlled troll to keep lines in the water and stay comfortable.

Captain tip: Trust the rotation—sometimes we cast, sometimes we drift, and sometimes we slow-troll. The goal is always the same: maximize your chances and keep you on fish.

What’s Biting & Where

Yellowfin Tuna “Tanks” – Gordo Banks (150–200 lb)

  • Excellent offshore action on 150–200 lb class yellowfin.
  • Expect long fights—heavy tackle and patience pay off.
  • Best results when we match the current edge and present baits clean.

Techniques: Chunking, kite baits (when conditions allow), and slow-trolling/controlled trolling when the sea is up.

Roosterfish – Close to Shore (10–15 lb)

  • Near the beach we’re seeing consistent 10–15 lb roosterfish.
  • Perfect for anglers who want action, photos, and quick learning.

Techniques: Casting live bait, working bait schools, and staying ready when the fish shows on the surface.

Mahi Mahi – Iman & the East Side (10–20 lb)

  • Very good mahi bite in the 10–20 lb range.
  • Great for steady action and fresh fish for dinner.

Techniques: Trolling along current lines, searching kelp/paddies, and switching to live bait when they’re fired up.

Striped Marlin – Bonus Offshore Opportunity

  • We’re also seeing chances at striped marlin.
  • When marlin are in the zone, we can keep a spread out while looking for tuna/mahi edges.

Techniques: Trolling a clean spread, keeping bait lively, and staying ready for a quick switch.

Best Boat Options (3–4 Anglers)

Super Pangas (Great Value + Comfort)

  • Perfect for 3–4 people.
  • We have options that include a toilet.
  • Fast, efficient, and ideal for inshore + offshore combos.

Larger Boats (Private Bathroom + Diesel)

  • More space for comfort and longer offshore runs.
  • Private bathroom onboard.
  • Diesel power and experienced captains for serious tuna days.

Captain Recommendations

  • For trophy tuna, be ready to commit time and energy — these fish are powerful and the fight can be long.
  • When wind/swell increases, we may switch to slow trolling or a controlled troll to stay comfortable while keeping baits working.
  • For mahi, we hunt current lines and structure; for roosterfish, we stay close to shore and cast when they show.

Conservation Matters to Daliken Sportfishing

We love strong fishing seasons — and protecting the fishery is part of keeping Los Cabos world-class. You’re welcome to keep your catch, and we’ll help you take home what you need. At the same time, we encourage anglers to keep only what you’ll use and practice catch-and-release when possible—especially on inshore species—so we can keep the bite healthy for the future.

We never “restrict” our guests, but if you like to collaborate with conservation, it makes a real difference. Thank you for helping us protect these waters.
