La Fortuna / Iman Bank Tuna Continue + Big Dorado and Strong Striped Marlin Activity
Warm water is still holding. Mornings are producing the most consistent action before the wind starts building around 1:00 PM.
Today’s Quick Report
The tuna bite continues on the La Fortuna / Iman Bank side, and we’re also seeing a strong push of good-sized dorado (15–30 lb). Warm water has kept the fish active, but wind often starts around 1:00 PM, so we highly recommend fishing in the morning for the smoothest ride and best consistency.
On the Palmilla side (about 5 miles off the coast), there are excellent reports of striped marlin with very good activity, mostly in the 80–120 lb range.

Fishing Techniques That Are Working
Tuna (La Fortuna / Iman Bank)
- Run-and-gun approach: find birds, foamers, and current edges.
- Live bait when available, plus trolling to locate, then switch to bait/jigs.
- Keep leaders clean and drags set right — tuna are unforgiving.
Dorado (15–30 lb)
- Look for floating structure and color changes in warm water.
- Small baits and quick presentations; dorado have been aggressive.
Striped Marlin (Palmilla)
- Slow-trolling / live bait presentations near bait balls.
- Stay alert: when marlin show, it can be multiple bites in a short window.
